Supports Agile Scrum and Iterative Development Methods

Although we decided to use common business terminology rather than the jargon of a specific development strategy, our system was designed with Agile Scrum in mind (see our tutorial for a description of terminology). Our company has great sucess with a modified Agile methodology. A good resource for Scrum information and definition of terms can be found at Scrum Alliance.

In order to maintain flexibility across different methodologies we have adopted a neutral naming convention. Each delivery unit is called a Milestone. A Milestone encompasses any features, functions or tasks that will be delivered as a complete set.

Technicans log their time against each Component in the Work Backlog until all of the components are completed for that Milestone. This simple structure works in an Agile or iterative approach to development as well as more traditional Waterfall type strategies. Our system yields highly detailed information without the need to constantly maintain tasks, dependencies and timelines like in other software packages.
